The overall meaning of biblical number 3 represents divine completeness and perfection. Three is the first number of motion and movement; the natural flow and divine energies present in all of us. These divine energies reveal itself as a spinning vortex of energy where the divine aspects of mind-body-spirit come into our awareness. Three activates motion where positive thoughts activate and draw back to self, positive energies and opportunities.
Three invokes us to express the versatility and pure joy of our creativity. Three also represents time as Past, Present and Future. Consecutive threes in your life may symbolize the need to express yourself creatively or consider your direction in life in relation to past events and future goals. Three also represents promising new adventures and an assurance of cooperation from others towards reward and success in most undertakings.
Appearances of 3 in the Bible
In the bible, the number 3 is used 467 times. There were three righteous patriarchs before the flood, Abel, Enoch and Noah, and three righteous patriarchs after the flood, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. John, Peter and James were the three individuals who witnessed Jesus’ transfiguration on Mount Hermon.
Jesus prayed three times in the Garden of Gethsemane, before His arrest. There were 3 hours of darkness that covered the land while Jesus was suffering on the cross. Christ was dead for 3 days and 3 nights, 72 hours, before being resurrected just before sunset.
God is described by John in Revelation 1:4:
“Grace and peace to you from Him who is, and who was, and who is to come.”
