What Are You Thankful For?

Thanksgiving, like any other holiday only comes around once a year, and typically like most other holidays we gather with family, friends and loved ones. We enjoy laughs, great company and scrumptious food. But what does this holiday really mean? It’s more than a day off from work or a day to fill our bellies with delicious food, or even a day to look forward to the great sales that every store has advertised for this Christmas season.

Thanksgiving is a day to reflect on all that God has blessed us with. No matter how big or small those things maybe what’s important is to simply acknowledge that He loves you and by His grace, you have been blessed with another day and given something to be thankful for.

I try to take a few moments throughout my day, sometimes first thing in the morning, at night, and as often as I can throughout the day to meditate and thank God for the blessings that He has brought into my life. I believe the constant thank yous are a silent form of prayer but for me they seem more like an ongoing conversation with a dear friend that watches over me, protects me, and loves me unconditionally.

Remember God desires that we sing praises to Him. “Sing to the LORD with grateful praise; make music to our God on the harp” (Psalm 147:7). It’s these words of praise and thanks that He is longing for us to share with Him. Now I ask you, what are you thankful for? What blessings has God brought into your life that you can take a few moments to close your eyes, take a deep breath, and in a few words share with Him just how much your health, your family, your car, your job—whatever or whoever it might be—is important enough to you to thank God.

I hope that this Thanksgiving is one of your best Thanksgivings ever, and that you take a few moments to honor God for all of the wonderful blessings that He has blessed you with.
